Precision Plumbing Progresses on Wegmans’ Highly Anticipated Ballantyne Grocery Store

We at Precision Plumbing are continuing to make strong progress on the construction of Wegmans' first Charlotte-area store in Ballantyne, North Carolina, even as we work diligently through the recent cold winter weather. The approximately 110,000-square-foot supermarket, situated at 11550 North Community House Road in the Ballantyne Corporate Park, remains on schedule for a fall 2026 opening.
Wegmans announced plans for the Ballantyne location in April 2024, with groundbreaking taking place on September 24, 2025. As the lead plumbing contractor, we've been on site since the early stages, handling essential piping systems, utilities, and infrastructure to support the store's extensive operations. Despite January's freezing temperatures, our team has maintained steady momentum on installations critical to the building's functionality.
In December 2025, we hosted plumbing juniors and seniors from Aspire Trade High School for an on-site educational visit, giving students hands-on exposure to large-scale commercial plumbing work, including massive piping systems in the new Wegmans build.
The upcoming Wegmans will deliver the full range of departments that have made the chain a favorite, including fresh produce, seafood, meat, bakery, deli, prepared foods, and a market cafe for casual dining. Positioned in growing South Charlotte, the store will improve access to high-quality, fresh groceries and convenient on-site dining options for residents and workers in the area.

The project supports significant local employment. During construction, it has created more than 250 jobs in trades and related fields. Upon opening, the store is expected to employ around 450 people, with the majority being local hires new to the company. Wegmans began recruiting full-time employees in January 2026, offering competitive pay, premium rates on Sundays and holidays, flexible schedules, and benefits such as employee assistance programs for childcare, elder care, and wellness. New hires receive paid training at existing North Carolina locations (like Cary and Chapel Hill) to prepare for their roles and potential advancement into store leadership positions.
