EARN WHILE YOU LEARN

At Precision Plumbing, we’re proud to offer a unique earn-while-you-learn opportunity through our in-house Apprenticeship Program. This is a true four-year journey that transforms motivated individuals into skilled, nationally recognized Journeyman Plumbers — all while earning a competitive wage from day one.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

Apprentices work full-time on commercial job sites across the Carolinas, gaining hands-on experience alongside skilled and experienced Foremen. You’ll assist with new construction, up-fits, and renovations while receiving on-the-job training every day.

​

  • STARTING PAY: $18.00/hour and up, based on prior trade or construction experience
     

  • GUARANTEED RAISES: $1.50/hour increase for each year/level of the program completed
     

  • WORK SCHEDULE: Five 8-hour days per week, with overtime at 1.5x for hours over 40/week or night shifts
     

  • CLASSES: One evening per week for 10 months per level
     

The full program combines classroom instruction with 8,000–10,000 hours of on-the-job learning over four years.

PROGRAM PROGRESSION

YEAR 1 — Strong emphasis on textbook fundamentals and building a solid knowledge foundation for the entire group.

YEAR 2 — Focused plumbing training with more hands-on projects.

YEAR 3 & 4 — Project-based learning with increased opportunities to explore specialized roles and growth paths within the company.
 

In class, you’ll learn not just the “how,” but the important “why” behind everything we do on the job, including practices, code requirements, licensure preparation, and future career opportunities.

READY TO START YOUR JOURNEY?

We keep the entry requirements straightforward because we’re more interested in your attitude and desire to build a career than in perfect paperwork.
 

To join our Apprenticeship Program, you must:
 

  • Be 18 years or older
     

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
     

  • Be able to lift 50lbs or more
     

  • Have a good work ethic and positive mindset
     

No previous plumbing experience is required. There are no strict requirements around advanced math, owning tools, or speaking perfect English. We provide Spanish textbooks for Level 1 to help remove barriers.

We’re looking for motivated, hardworking people who genuinely want to work in the trades. If you have some construction or outdoor work experience, that’s a big plus. During the interview process, we want to hear that you know yourself well — your strengths, your areas for growth, and why you’re excited about a long-term career in commercial plumbing with us.

​

The application process includes a detailed application with references, a basic math and plumbing assessment, and two rounds of interviews. All candidates must also pass a standard background check and drug test.
 

We only bring on about 10 new apprentices each year, and new spots typically open in late May. Because we have a limited number of openings, the window fills up quickly.
